Lochgelly Bowling Club
Lochgelly Bowling Club was founded in 1897. The club is nestled away surrounded by housing on all sides.
The Club Teams also fare well in all outside competitions, winning some prestigious awards over the years. The first trophy in the Clubs history was won in 1899. This was the Consolation Cup which was one of the Fife County competitions.Since this day the Club has gone on to win numerous honours. The greatest honour was the winning of the British Isles Rink Championship in 1960. The Club has had great success in all competitions, winning the Top 10, Top 13, Mens and Ladies league titles, Three Counties and numerous other events.
Over the years the Club has also had representation on the International scene with D. Campbell, T.McDonald, J.Hynd, J. Clark, J. Simpson, R. Whitehead, J. Sinclair and still playing today in J. McGuire, J. Gilruth and Val McGregor.
The "Big L" as it is known by many clubs, has been very successful with regards to winning Trophies and Championships, and have the reputation for good hospitality and friendship that is second to none. We hope that everyone who comes to our club finds an intense competitive spirit, coupled with traditional hospitality that will keep the name of Lochgelly Bowling Club alive for years to come.
The Clubhouse consists of a large hall and a lounge area. During the season it is opn from 630pm until 1130pm. During the off season it is open Thursday Friday Saturday 7pm-1130pm and Sundays 1230pm 6pm. Every Saturday night a well attended sing song is held starting at 9pm and going until closing.
